Complaints

At Crescent Dental Care we endeavour to provide the highest level of care for our patients.  If your experience falls short of your expectations please do let your dentist know and we will do everything we can to resolve your concerns.  Any complaint is taken seriously and will be handled in a courteous and prompt manner.

Complaints are handled by Dr Steven Howarth and our Practice Manager, Mrs Kristina Collins.  If a patient telephones with a complaint we will listen to their complaint and offer to refer him or her to Dr Steven Howarth or Kristina Collins immediately.  If Dr Steven Howarth or Mrs Kristina Collins are unavailable the patient will be told when they will be able to talk to them and arrangements will be made for this to happen.  If we are unable to arrange this within a reasonable period of time or the patient does not want to wait then arrangements will be made for another dentist to deal with it.

If a patient complains by letter it will be immediately passed on to Dr Steven Howarth or Mrs Kristina Collins.  We will acknowledge the complaint in writing, enclosing a copy of our complaints policy as soon as possible, usually within 3 working days.  We will then investigate the complaint and give an explanation of the circumstances whch led to it, usually within 10 working days.

If a patient does not want to meet us, we will attempt to talk to them on the telephone.  If we are unable to fully investigate the complaint within 10 working days we will notify the patient, giving reasons for the delay and a likely period within which the investigation will be completed.

If a patient is not satisfied with the result of our procedure, then a complaint may be made to:

NHS treatment: Contact the Health Service Ombudsman – www.ombudsman.org.uk

Private treatment:    Contact the Dental complaints service –  www.dentalcomplaints.org.uk.

This service is funded by the General Dental Council which sets out standards of conduct for and regulates all dental professionals in the UK.
